Saugerties Lighthouse


Location: On the Hudson River, at the mouth of Esopus Creek. In Ulster County

Description: Brick L-shaped brick dwelling with square tower. Present lighthouse originally housed Sixth Order lens

History of light:

1838: First Saugerties light built

1869: Present lighthouse built

1954: Lighthouse automated

1985: Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy formed

1990, August 4: Fourth Order light installed in restored tower

Current use: Active aid to navigation/ bed and breakfast

Public access? Yes.
